How we protect your privacy

Council is committed to complying with the provisions of privacy legislation. This means that Council respects the privacy of individuals and complies with the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 and the Health Records Act 2001 in the collection, use, storage, management, provision of access and disposal of information.

Council provides a wide range of services to the community and personal and health information (including but not limited to names, addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, financial information, medical opinion etc.) is important to the delivery of these services. Council is also required to collect information under various state government legislation.

The information that you provide will remain for the use of Council and will not be disclosed except as required by law or if consent is provided to do so. We will only use or disclose personal or health information for a secondary purpose if you would reasonably expect us to use or disclose the information, and the secondary purpose is directly related to the original purpose for which we collected the information.

You may apply to the Council for access to and/or amendment of information held about you. Requests for access and/or correction should be made to the Council's Privacy Officer at PO Box 28, Beechworth VIC, 3747 or by email at info@indigoshire.vic.gov.au.
