Casual Road Maintenance Workers

Council is looking to create a ‘pool’ of suitable casual employees to work within our Roads Maintenance team during peak season and other staff absences as they may arise.

As part of the Road Maintenance team you will be able to:

  • Carry out repair works to roads and associated infrastructure, including maintenance activities such as patching gravel & sealed roads, repair of drainage pits, pipes and streets, grass slashing, weed spraying and tree pruning and removal.
  • Operate minor plant and equipment such as hand tools, chainsaws, hand and ride on mowers, line trimmers.
  • Competently operate other plant and equipment within capability and competency. 
  • Install and maintain street signs and road furniture. 
  • Participate in road patrol activities/works as directed

Qualifications:

  • OH&S ‘IC’ Induction Card (can be completed online)
  • White Card (essential)
  • Trade Certificate in Civil Construction and maintenance (3) (desirable) or equivalent or commensurate knowledge and skills gained through on the job experience
  • Current minimum (MR) Medium Rigid Victorian Driver’s Licence (or State equivalent) desirable
  • Chainsaw competency (desirable)
  • Traffic Control Ticket (desirable)
  • First Aid Level 2 (desirable)
