Event organising
Larger events with event committees rely on volunteers to help their event run smoothly for the community to enjoy. Many are not-for-profit and require an enormous amount of hours to organise and carry out.
- Golden Horseshoes Festival requires volunteers for site control, set-up and pack down, festival kiosk, green team, stalls team, children’s zone, signage, marketing and media, and sponsorship.
- Yackandandah Folk Festival requires volunteer committee members and festival weekend volunteers in areas such as logistics, venue management, MCs, venue control, green team, performer hospitality, The Shed, car parking, social media and children’s activities.

Youth Services
Our Youth Services team facilitates a Shire-wide driving mentor program called L2P. The program matches volunteer driving mentors with young people who experience barriers accessing a supervising driver, a vehicle, or both, to help them achieve the 120 hours driving experience required to apply for their probationary licence.
When volunteering for the program, all mentors need to abide by the Victorian Child Safe Standards and hold a current Working with Children Check.
Library Services
Our Library Services are provided across four locations in the Shire. Volunteers assist our librarians with many tasks including book covering, book sales and the Friends of the Library Group. To volunteer at one of our libraries (Beechworth, Chiltern, Rutherglen or Yackandandah) please contact our libraries directly.
