Indigo Shire Council has awarded $30,000 in funding to various event organisers across the Shire through its Tourism Events grant program.
The program provides financial assistance to local event organisers to support the development of events that will increase visitation to the Shire.
Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, the applications received in this round of the program did not necessarily seek to bring increased visitation, but rather support the resilience and development of events in 2021-2022 and this was taken into consideration by the evaluation panel.
Seven event organisers/groups across the Shire will share in the funding which will see a range of events come to life including a series of music and comedy events, a community event celebrating diversity, an event that focuses on childrens art and a number cycling events.
A total of nine applications were made across the Shire and the two that were unsuccessful were determined to be better suited for the Community Events Grant Program and included in that funding evaluation process.
