Council workers have spent the last two weeks undertaking maintenance works on the Southern side of Lake Sambell Walking track in Beechworth. The track has had a facelift with the cleaning of drains and safety works with mesh installed over the open drains, resurfacing in some areas of the track and steps, pruning and weed maintenance as well as the installation of retaining walls to assist with erosion control at the clay banks and other steep areas of the track. Any work on this section of the Lake Sambell Track is a challenge to get materials and equipment to the work site and the warm weather has proved extra-challenging some days but the crew have achieved a huge amount of maintenance work in a short period leaving the track looking fabulous in the lead up to Easter holidays.
