Indigo Shire Council has successfully secured funding to upgrade the lighting at Butson Park Yackandandah under the Victorian Government’s Country Football and Netball program.
A grant of $150,000 has been awarded to Council to upgrade the facilities and will see much needed improvements completed, enabling safer use for the community and better scheduled participation, as well as bringing the lighting capacity up to a much higher standard.
The upgrade project totals just over $270,000, including the grant funding, plus a contribution from Council of $92,450 and a club contribution of $30,000.
Indigo Shire Mayor Jenny O’Connor says the success in securing the funds is the result of an excellent team effort between Council and the club, resulting in a great community asset.
“Our sporting clubs contribute so much to our local communities and it’s critical that they have safe, compliant and competition-worthy facilities to ensure their futures for our local sports people.”
Dates for construction are yet to be set.
