About Kathleen Alderdice

Kathleen Alderdice (1880 - 1970) was the seventh child of Alexander and Fanny Alderdice born in Beechworth.

Kathleen attended Beechworth State School and received a Livingstone Scholarship at the age of 14 to attend the Melbourne Educational Institute.

She was a local educator, teaching shorthand and typing at the Beechworth Technical College. She was curator of the Burke Museum, and a prominent leader in cultural organizations like the Beechworth Chorale Society. Her long tenure as Electoral Registrar and her work with Births, Deaths, and Marriages further highlight her central role in local governance. Her name is seen on many registration certificates up until her retirement.

She died aged 90 in Malvern East.
