Disability Action Plan

A Disability Action Plan is a strategy for changing existing practices which may discriminate against people with disabilities.

The Victorian Government, under Section 38 of the Disability Act (2006), states that a Disability Action Plan should be developed to:

  • Reduce barriers to persons with a disability accessing goods, services and facilities;
  • Reduce barriers to persons with a disability obtaining and maintaining employment;
  • Promote inclusion and participation in the community of persons with a disability; and
  • Achieve tangible changes in attitudes and practices which discriminate against persons with a disability.

Developing a Disability Action Plan that specifically details the actions needed to ensure equity and justice for people with disabilities ensures that Indigo Shire Council is strategically planning for full inclusion.

Our Disability Action Plan was adopted by Council on Tuesday 22 February 2022.
