This building was purchased by the Wooragee Progress Association from Zwar Tannery, Beechworth in 1961.
Renovations and refurbishment were carried out by local residents during the ensuing years with all finance provided by Wooragee residents.
In 2000 the hall came under the Shire as a Section 86 Committee and major renovations funded by Federal, State and Local Government assisted by local residents were carried out in 2005.
