Funded by the Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic), on behalf of the Victorian Government, the "Starting Small" video production was born as a youth-led project aiming to promote social connection in disaster affected communities.
This video project has been a collaborative effort between Bring Bears Productions, Indigo Shire Council Youth Services and a group of young people from Chiltern, Rutherglen, Yackandandah and Beechworth, whose stories and experiences have been featured in the film.
The project aims to empower young people by giving them a voice and an opportunity to share their perspectives on the impact of natural disasters within their community - financial hardships, physical isolation and general sense of community and emotional exhaustion.
It has a particular focus on showcasing activities that contribute positively to young people's recovery and resilience building and share a message of hope.
