Joining the Friends of the Burke Museum is a great way to support this fantastic cultural heritage asset.
To date the Friends has raised $75,000 through a variety of fundraising efforts including events, memberships, grants and direct donations.
Their work has directly assisted some significant projects, such as the conservation of the historic Chinese banners from the 1870s, the restoration of the 19th century bird collection and the purchase of items including the pistol owned by the museum’s namesake, Robert O’Hara Burke.
The Friends’ fundraising efforts also secured two clocks designed and made by master clockmaker Charles Falck in Beechworth around 1860 which were part of a famous shop window display on Ford Street during the gold rush era.
