Baarmutha Park Lighting Upgrade (completed 2024) We upgradws the lighting at Beechworth's Baarmutha Park to AFL standards and replaced the halogen lights with LED.
Sealed Road Resurfacing (completed 2024) We have completed our annual resealing works on a number of rural and urban sealed roads.
Chiltern Tennis Courts (completed 2024) We've upgraded the Chiltern Tennis Courts to Tennis Victoria standards, with new surfaces on Courts One and Two, and the installation of new LED lighting, fencing and run offs.
Kergunyah Memorial Hall upgrade (completed 2024) We've upgraded the Kergunyah Memorial Hall by constructing a new wing, kitchen, side stage access and store areas.
Rutherglen Skate Park Extension (completed 2024) We've redeveloped the Rutherglen Skate Park on Murray Street. These upgrades provide up to three times as many skate elements and create further opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to use wheeled recreational devices.
Tangambalanga Pump Track (completed 2024) We've developed and constructed a new pump track in Kiewa-Tangambalanga.
Wahgunyah Pump Track (completed 2024) We developed and constructed a new asphalt pump track located on the Wahgunyah Railway Land.
Beechworth Pool Liner (completed 2024) We've replaced the pool liner at the Beechworth Pool which has reached the end of its life. The liner was last replaced in 2007.
Beechworth to Yackandandah Rail Trail (completed 2024) Construction of the Beechworth to Yackandandah rail trail was completed in April 2024.
Barnawartha Netball and Tennis Courts Redevelopment (completed 2024) We've redeveloped two courts to be compliant for both netball and tennis, with new LED lighting as well as shelters for players and coaches.
Beechworth Courthouse Kelly Trials Project (completed 2024) We’ve re-interpreted the Beechworth Courthouse to tell the building’s authentic stories, including Ned Kelly’s committal hearing, using projection technology and world class museum displays.

Alma road - sealing and cycle path construction (completed 2023) We've upgraded two sections of Alma Road to a sealed standard including Kibell Lane intersection and Green Wattle Lane intersection.
Traton Street footpath construction (completed 2023) We constructed a 700m concrete footpath on Traton Street, Wahgunyah from the Blanche Street intersection to the Morley Drive intersection.
Chiltern Land Development Project (completed 2023) In December 2021, Council purchased two parcels of private land in Chiltern. We worked with the community to determine its priorities for future use.
Tree Planting and Replacement Program (completed 2023) We've completed our annual tree planting and replacement program for 2023.
Bells Flat Road Repairs (completed 2023) Following an intense storm on Tuesday 25 October 2022, water flowed over Bells Flat Road and caused significant erosion. The road was re-opened on Thursday 27 July 2023.
Barnawartha Cricket Nets Upgrade (completed 2023) We replaced the non-compliant two-lane practice nets at Barnawartha Recreation Reserve with a three-lane facility for use by the Barnawartha-Chiltern Miners Cricket Club.
Changing Places Facility - Yackandandah (completed 2023) We replaced the existing toilet block at Sir Isaac Isaacs Park in Yackandandah with a new building, providing two standard toilets, one ambulant toilet, two accessible toilets and a Changing Places toilet facility, fully fitted with an adult change table, hoist and shower.
Chiltern Community Hub (completed 2023) The Chiltern Community Hub is an exciting new community building in Chiltern and includes a library, customer service centre, kindergarten and maternal and child health service.
Queen Victoria Park Beautification (completed 2023) Major improvements were undertaken to Beechworth’s Queen Victoria Park Botanic gardens thanks to Council securing funding under the Growing Victoria’s Botanic Gardens Grant Program
Gooramadda Road Repairs (completed 2023) Gooramadda Road is now open after being seriously damaged during the floods of November 2022.
Kiewa Valley Bowling Club Resurfacing (Completed 2023) The existing synthetic playing surface at Kiewa Valley Bowling Club is due for renewal, so we're replacing it with a new woven carpet synthetic surface.
Kiewa Tangambalanga Lions Solar Installation (completed 2023) We’ve installed an 8.81kW Solar PV and 13.8kWh battery system on the Kiewa Tangambalanga Lions Den to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions as well as electricity costs.

Indigo Epic Trail construction (completed 2023) This $2M project has created a world-class mountain bike trail, connecting Beechworth and Yackandandah over 56kms.
Kiewa Multipurpose Pavilion (completed 2023) This project involved construction of a new multipurpose pavilion to support the Kiewa Cricket Club, Kiewa Tennis Clubs and the local community.
Wahgunyah Multipurpose Hardcourts (completed 2023) This project involved a major upgrade of the tennis and netball facilities at Wahgunyah Recreation Reserve. It also included enhanced lighting and upgrading fencing, paths and shelters.

Butson Park lighting upgrade (completed 2022) This project involved replacing the lighting at Butson Park, Yackandandah to cater for increased club competition and match practice for the local football and netball club.

Rutherglen Roundabout Landscaping (completed 2022) This project involved the beautification of the Rutherglen Roundabout through landscaping and new plantings.

Lake Moodemere Rowing Shed (completed 2022) This project involved the replacement of the rowing shed at Lake Moodemere. The facility now includes unisex shower facilities and toilets, a new septic system and rainwater tank.
Rutherglen Cricket Club Training Nets (completed 2022) This project involved demolishing the existing cricket practice pitches and constructing four new cricket practice pitches with synthetic turf, enclosed fencing and netting.
Yackandandah Electric Vehicle Charging Station (completed 2022) This project involved Council supporting the installation of a new 50 kilowatt electric vehicle fast-charger at the public carpark on Windham Street Yackandandah.
Country Hall upgrades (completed 2022) This project involved the upgrading of the connectivity, communications and year round catering capacity at Cornishtown, Sandy Creek and Stanley Halls.
Barkly Park Lighting upgrade (completed 2021) This project involved replacing the lighting system at Barkly Park with new poles and 100 lux lighting to meet Australian Rules Football Standards.
Sarah Street Wahgunyah sealing (completed 2021) This project involved sealing Sarah Street from Barkly Street north to join the shared trail to Federation Bridge.
Swing Bridge refurbishments (completed 2021) This project involved upgrading two swing bridges, one at Chiltern and the other at Wahgunyah as part of a Shire-wide initiative.
Rutherglen Senior Citizens Centre upgrade (completed 2021) This project involved upgrading the kitchen facilities in the Rutherglen Senior Citizens Centre.
Wooragee Tennis Courts upgrade (completed 2021) This project involved upgrading the two courts from concrete to synthetic artificial grass. The courts dimensions comply with Tennis Australia standards and new lighting and fencing was installed.
Wahgunyah to Lake Moodemere Shared Trail (completed 2021) This project involved construction of the final stage of the shared cycle and pedestrian trail from Wahgunyah to Lake Moodemere.
Yackandandah Creek Recreational Trail (completed 2021) This project involved construction of a 1.3km recreational trail along the Yackandandah Creek from the Yackandandah Creek Gorge to the Kirby Flat bend adjacent to Bells Flat Road.

Indigo Creek Road upgrade (completed 2021) This project involved upgrading a 1.5km section of Indigo Creek Road from Johnson Lane to near the Beechworth-Wodonga Road intersection.
Kiewa River land masterplan (completed 2021) This project involved extensive community consultation to develop a Masterplan for the former NECMA Site at Kiewa to assist in seeking funding to redevelop the site.
Yackandandah and Rutherglen Pool Renewals (completed 2021) This project involved repainting the internal walls of the Yackandandah and Rutherglen pools.
Beechworth Memorial Hall cooling (completed 2021) This project involved removing the existing gas fired heating furnace in the Memorial Hall in favour of an electrical reverse cycle air conditioning system.

Butson Park Netball Courts (completed 2020) This project involved the construction of new netball courts at Butson Park in Yackandandah.
Chiltern Main Street footpath upgrade (completed 2020) This project involved replacing the existing damaged kerb and channel and brick footpath on the eastern side of Main Street, between Crawford Street and Reid Street.
Chiltern footpath extension (completed 2020) This project involved the construction of a new footpath linking the Chiltern sporting complex to the town centre.
Lake Sambell Boardwalk (completed 2020) This project involved construction of four elevated boardwalks on the southern end of the Lake Sambell Walking Track.
Lake King pathway (completed 2020) This project involved construction of a new concrete footpath from the existing path in Murray Street, through Apex Park, and joining up to the remodelled Lake King circulation pathway.
Mia Mia Road Upgrade (completed 2020) This project involved widening a 1.5km section of Mia Mia Road north of the Murray Valley Highway from a single lane road to a two lane sealed road.
Tangambalanga Active Park (completed 2020) This project involved the installation of new playground as part of the first stage of the Masterplan for the Tangambalanga Active Park.
Yackandandah Memorial Gardens Fence Refurbishment (completed 2020) This project involved the restoration of the fence surrounding the Yackandandah Memorial Gardens.
Lake King remodelling (completed 2020) This project was a major component of the Rutherglen Economic Revitalisation Project. It addressed critical dam safety and landscaping works leading to the overall enhancement of the Lake King recreational area.
Barnard Street Sealing (completed 2020) This project involved extending the road seal in Barnard Street in Beechworth as part of the 2020/2021 capital works program.
Chiltern Main Street upgrade (completed 2020) This project involved upgrading the footpath and installing new kerb and channel to improve safety and amenity in Main Street Chiltern.
Town Hall Gardens Fountain restoration (completed 2019) This project involved the restoration of two historic fountains in the Town Hall Gardens in Beechworth and Martin Park in Chiltern.
Indigo Drive Outfall drain replacement (completed 2019) This project involved the replacement of the Indigo Drive outfall drain in Barnawartha, resulting in significant improvements to stormwater management.
Lake Sambell Steps (completed 2019) This project involved repairing the steps at Lake Sambell near the Caravan Park that were badly damaged during a major storm event.
