The project scope includes drainage improvements through the extension of major culverts, road widening, pavement strengthening and sealing of approximately 200 metres of gravel road.
It is also proposed to create a section of off-road gravel bike path to provide safer access to the Beechworth Mountain Bike Park.
The works were included in Council's 2019-20 capital works program and were undertaken to improve safety for motorists and cyclists using Alma Road.
This particular section has a curve with adjacent drop off road hazards (major culverts) and a slope leading up to the Mountain Bike Park.
These works are designed to improve safety for all road users.
While every effort is being made to minimise disruption there will be speed and lane restrictions in place until the end of March.
