About this project

Resurfacing of the Beechworth Croquet Court, No.2 in Harper Avenue was undertaken as part of Council’s renewal program for Recreation Reserves. The 2021-22 budget provides $70,000 for renewal works, including $25,000 for this project.

Why was this project undertaken?

This work was a periodic activity undertaken to renew the grassed surface to ensure that the useful life of the court was preserved and the surface was able to be maintained by the club to a high standard.

What happened and when?

Works began in mid-February 2022, with  the existing grass removed and then re-sown with sprigs of Santa Ana Couch to provide the required standard of playing surface. These works took about four weeks to complete, and Club members were then rostered for the 12 week maintenance period to ensure the successful establishment of the new grass.

What is the impact of these works?

Croquet Court No.2 was not be able to be used while the works were in progress and for a further period of 12 weeks while the new grass was established.

Once the grass is established, club users will be able to enjoy croquet on an as-new, high standard surface.
