We’ve installed a new footpath linking the Chiltern sporting complex to the town centre.
This project will be undertaken in two stages. The first stage will see the construction of a new 1.5m wide concrete footpath from the recreation reserve connecting with the existing footpath network at the memorial hall. The project also includes improved drainage.
The second stage of the path around the senior citizens building linking to Conness Street will require more detailed planning and design. Council will be seeking input on the design from the community and stakeholders.
When complete, the new path will provide improved pedestrian access and connectivity from the sporting complex down Alliance Street to the town centre.
The Chiltern Placemaking and Structure Plan 2016 identified a missing link between the sports complex and caravan park with Conness Street and the town centre.
Construction works from the recreation reserve to Memorial Hall will commence in March 2020 and be completed by June 2020.
There will be minor traffic disruption and detours for pedestrians foot during the construction period.
