After more than 40 years of use, it was time to upgrade to the kitchen facilities at the Rutherglen Senior Citizens Centre. To align with the installation of Solar Power (separate project) the heating and cooling system and cooking facilities have been upgraded to energy efficient units.
The upgrade was undertaken to ensure the safety and comfort of all community members who use the centre and was required as part of the maintenance schedule of the building. The project was funded with Commonwealth Sector Support and Development funding.
This facility is critical to the broader community as a shared space for events and to support the health and well being of our senior citizens. As part of the upgrade, the centre has had solar panels installed and selected lights have been converted to LED.
